“My team is definitely cooking with more of a conscience and, wherever possible, we source the local, the free-range, the organic and sustainable products,” says Tung. “We’re committed to sustainable seafood and recently got on board with the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program.”

 
Chef Tung placed first in the Best Chef category. As well, Tapenade was honoured and humbled by the fact that the Readers’ Poll placed them first in Best Brunch and Best Fine Dining, second in Best Place to go on a First Date, Best Dessert, Best Place to Take Out-of-Town Guests, and third in Best Wine Selection.

“This is a smart room with a menu that seems to roam happily between bistro French and casual Italian, with offerings such as cioppino, steak 'n' frittes with caramelized shallot and mustard jus, and poached wild salmon with lavender beurre blanc. Dinner entrees, for the most part, stay well under $20 and wines are also well chosen and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back ”
